  • Be able to count your 5x table in under 10 seconds (Up to 50)
  • Know what: 16 divided by 4, 49 divided by 7 and 144 – 72 is
  • Be able to explain the definition of a square root and be able to give 3 examples
  • Be able to play the 16 beat along to music without falling out of time
  • Know how to make 82 using every part of the drum kit (The teacher decides what each drum has a value of) in under 15 seconds
  • Explain where the snare, hi-hat, high-tom and floor-tom are on the stave without looking
  • Learn how to play a dog-bark
  • Learn how to correctly set up a drum kit from scratch
  • Be able to say your 3x table backwards in under 10 seconds

Level 3

  • Be able to answer what’s the square root of: 9, 16, 25, 49, 64, 81, 121, 141
  • Know how to count their 6x table in 10 seconds (Up to 60)
  • Be able to play a 16 beat and answer various math questions at the same time without stopping (complete 30 second math quiz)
  • Explain where all common parts of the drum kit are found on the stave without looking (Hi-hat, snare, kick drum, high-tom, mid-tom, floor-tom, ride and crash
  • Know how to play a triplet and implement this technique into a drum beat
  • Be able to complete the speed challenge (4 on each drum) in under 1 second
  • Know all common band gestures (Quiet, stop, repeat and come in)
  • Be able to play a 32-beat followed by a linear fill of your choice without falling below a desired BPM of 70
  • Understand what a Ghost and Accent note is and implement this into your very own drum beat
  • Private project: To have gone home and learnt how to play a full song of your choice (Drums for this song)
  • Understand rest periods and use this technique to improve playing
  • Implemented a dogbark into a drum beat that the student has created

Level 4

  • Be able to teach the whole class a new drum beat that you’ve created (If you’re in a 1-2-1 class situation, then the students teaches the teacher)
  • Learn how to lead a jamming session by using band gestures to control the situation
  • Be able to count the 8x table in under 10 seconds (Up to 80)
  • Be able to explain what the definition of division is and give 5 example sums
  • Know the difference between an 8th, 16th and 32nd notation on the stave
  • Be able to complete a half-finished stave notation using the correct values and then play the drum beat
  • Learn and implement a roll, flam, accent and ghost note into a drum beat that the teacher has taught you
  • Learn and become familiar with Ableton and know the difference between click and tracks
  • Learn a basic understanding of Premiere Pro
  • To have completed a Grade 4 book
  • Learn how to correctly tune a drum kit
  • Be able to correctly answer (5X7) – 23 is

Level 5

  • Create your very own drum beat which contains all common notation values (e.g. quarter, 8th, 16th and 32nd)
  • Private project: Learn how to play the song ‘Misery Business’ by Paramore perfectly
  • Be able to distinguish the difference between a verse, pre-chorus, bridge and outro
  • Be able to create and play a bridge that contains 6 layers
  • Be able to play a Paradiddle around the drum kit with hard foot combinations whist answering math questions (without stopping)
  • Know your 9x table and be able to say this in under 10 seconds (Up to 90)
  • To have successfully elected and/or lead 3 group activities set by the teacher (If you’re on a 1-2-1 lesson plan, you will lead the teacher in 3 activities set by the teacher)
  • Create your very own mathematical game on the drums
  • To have earned 3,000,000 points
  • To have completed a Grade 5 book
  • Learn and created your very own film project idea
  • Take lead on the video editing for you progression video and be able to complete a whole edit in one lesson by yourself
  • To have completed 12 song projects (12x four-week projects)

Level 6

  • To have learnt and played 15 online HWDRUMS tuition skill set videos
  • To know your 3, 6, 8, 9 times table off by heart (Up to the value of 10)
  • Be able to create your very own drum beat that contains a dog-bark, ghost note, accent, roll and flam
  • Be able to play a 32 beat whilst counting your 6 times table backwards without stopping
  • To have learnt correct technique when playing and used this technique to improve overall sounds quality and performance
  • Know all square roots (Up to 144)
  • Be able to play an 8 beat at the BPM of 200
  • Use Ableton to improve live playing and be able to change between tracks and clicks like you would on stage
  • Create your very own film project and drum beat (All song sections)
  • To have earnt 3,800,000 million points

Level 7

  • Know all following times tables and be able to count each table in under 10 seconds (3,6,7,2,8) (Up to 10x for each table)

  • Correctly completed a half-finished sheet notation bar from the teacher with correct time values
  • Understand in further detail how to create original compositions in Ableton
  • To have earned 4,500,000 million points
  • Know what 160 divided by 40 is
  • The students can create numbers for each part of the drum kit, play a Paradiddle with hard foot combinations and then verbally create and answer 4 sums without stopping playing
  • To have created your very own film project idea, drum beat and structure notes for your compositions
  • To have gone home and learnt how to play ‘Lucozade’ by Travis barker perfectly
  • Know and use various techniques to improve playing. For example, become so familiar with perfect technique that all parts of the drum beat are the same to increase recording quality
  • Use different stroke power to improve playing quality

Level 8

  • Know all times tables (up to 12)
  • Know all square roots (up to 144)
  • Be able to know a variety of division questions asked by the teacher and be able to answer them all correctly whilst playing a continuous Paradiddle
  • To have directed and created their own film project idea and learnt how to organise transport, speak with film crews, create running orders for all film crew, spoken with land owners and played in their own production. Once recorded, students then have to edit the entirety of their own film
  • Learn how to play basic Guitar chords so that you can play and or change instruments if needed in live playing situations
  • Learnt all band gestures and become completely confident in live playing situations
  • To have completed a Grade 8 book
  • To have earned 6,000,000 points
  • To have learnt 30 HWDRUMS online tuition skill set videos
  • Be able to use all previous techniques and knowledge to create their very own song composition and direct and work with other musicians
  • Be able to play the song ‘Try it out’ by Cobus on the drums
  • Be able to listen to a new song that’s set by the teacher and learn how to play the entirety of that song and be recording/film ready within one hour
  • Be able to switch between a Paradiddle, 5 stroke, 6 stroke and 32 beat on commands and answer hard math questions without a mistake (45 second math challenge)
  • To have completed 30 full songs (30x four-week projects)
